No Handshake With Odinga Despite Talks – Ruto

Saturday, August 5, 2023 –President William Ruto has ruled out any possibility of unconstitutional talks to accommodate the opposition into his government.

Ruto, who has started his five-day tour in the Central part of Kenya, said that the opposition will remain as such despite its threats to mount more protests against his administration.

Addressing on Saturday August 5, Ruto noted that the use of threats and intimidation so that to get a space in his administration will, unlike in the past, not work this time around.

President Ruto who was addressing a filled-up Githurai Market rally accused Odinga of forcing chaos in a bid to claim a Handshake similar to the 2018 events.

He asserted authority that he will not be allowing the opposition near his administration no matter any amount of intimidation Raila and his brigade mounts.

“I have told them and let’s agree that no one from any party will set us against each other whether they distribute money to use our youth to destroy properties and cause death.

“I will not allow this to happen under my watch, anymore,” the president assured supporters in Githurai today Saturday.

He said, as a leader who believes in decency and democracy, he will not share his government and neither will he give up on remaining firm on matters principle.

This, Ruto argued will make this country a respected place in the world in terms of democracy, peace and economic stability.

During his first day, Dr. Ruto was accompanied by his deputy Rigathi Gachagua, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro among other Central region leaders all who had chance top address voters.

DP Gachagua cautioned his boss Ruto not to agree to any form of power sharing through the ongoing bipartisan talks.

Gachagua said Kenya Kwanza supporters were against a Handshake deal, noting that they voted for one president, who is Ruto.

“Rais watu ya hapa Mt. Kenya walikuchagua wewe na wakakupea kura zao zote. Wamesema kwa kauli moja, mambo ya Handshake hawataki,” he said on Saturday.

At Githurai Kiambu County, Ruto commissioned new Githurai Market as part of his fulfillment of promises made in last year’s campaigns.
