Wednesday, July 6, 2022 ā€“ Azimio la Umoja leadership has come to a conclusion that should there be no both manual and electronic voters register, they will not be participating in August 9 poll.

Their leader Raila Odinga has said there will be no elections in the country should Wafula Chebukati not reintroduce the manual register to back up the electronic one.

Speaking to huge gatherings in Githunguri Kiambu County today Wednesday July 6, Mr. Odinga reiterated the need to have both registers as they had indicted in their protest letter addressed to the electoral body, IEBC recently.

He affirmed that the manual register in every polling station around teh country is now their irreducible minimum to participate in the elections.

ā€œWith a manual register, it will be easy to tell how many people have voted in every polling station. In the electronic register, there is no record that remains.

ā€œThat is why weā€™re saying that there must be a manual register at every polling station, it is not negotiable. Weā€™re telling the IEBC they must have a manual register along with the biometric identification of voters on that day; failure to which, there will be no election,ā€ said Odinga.

Mr. Odinga and his close ally Junet Mohamed went ahead to claim that there was a plot for the Chebukati-led commission to print access ballot papers and bring them to the country through Uganda border so that to help their rival William Ruto to win election.

Ms Karua, on her part, said the Azimio government – if elected – will stand for the right of everyone but strict on misdoings specifically on graft lords.

Their vote-rigging claims have, however, been laughed off by DP William Ruto who has described this as early an panic.
