Friday, December 2, 2022 –-Nation Media’s long-serving news anchor, Mark Maasai, has broken his silence moments after he was fired from the station on Thursday December 1.
The NTV Prime Time news anchor who was among those who were relieved of their duties from the Kimathi Street-based station, has said he will be back in short while.
Mr. Maasai who was speaking on Capital FM told his fans that he will be back on the screen and assured that this is as soon as possible. Though he did not say when.
The seasoned anchor, however, took time to thank his employer for having had faith in him for all these years. He then shared a few clips of 2008 when he started his role in the mainstream media.
“NTV is a great team! These are different times. Was a great show. Time for short a commercial break. I’ll be back!” he promised.
The popular media personality added that, meanwhile, he will be working on other personal projects to keep his fans busy.
“This is the reality of the media landscape around the world and unfortunately, I was at the losing end of this one.
“However, this is not the end of my career in the media, I will be back on other platforms. All I have to say is watch this space,” he further told Capital FM.
Maasai’s dramatic sacking is happening at the time the station is grappling with huge numbers of employees most of whom had been rendered jobless by the emerging digital trends.
Homenews.co.ke has learnt that, apart from Maasai, more exits could follow in few days to come even after the station recently brought in talented Joe Ageyo who is the current group editorial director.
Before joining Nation Media Group NMG, Ageyo was Citizen Tv‘s editorial director.
