Monday, March 28, 2022 –Raila Odinga’s elder brother, Oburu Odinga, has for the first time spoken about his relationship with the Kenyatta family.
In his latest interview with a local channel, Mr. Oburu who is a serving East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP noted that he does not share a personal relationship with the Kenyattas and that he has never one-on-one interacted with the president.
He revealed that the only time he was close to Mr. Kenyatta is when they were serving in the Grand Coalition government in which he was Uhuru’s assistant at the Ministry of Finance in a government that was shared between Raila and President (Rtd) Mwai Kibaki.
And when Uhuru teamed up with Ruto in 2013, their relationship started to deteriorate immediately and they have never had any serious meeting since then.
“I support the President because we used to work together at the Treasury, we had a very cordial relationship then, but since he became President, I have not interacted with him.
“So I cannot talk of a personal relationship with him, because I don’t interact with him much, it is Raila who does that,” Oburu stated.
On the same note, he made it clear that neither does he have any cordial relationship with Deputy President William Ruto.
“I have not interacted with him since those days when he was in the Cabinet and I was an assistant minister. I have not associated with him much,” Oburu noted.
Mr. Oburu is the elder brother to Raila Odinga and who is vying for Siaya Senatorial seat.
