Raila tells Uhuru to import safe vaccine, first consignment scheduled January

Thursday, December 17, 2020 –Orange Democratic Party boss Raila Odinga has asked the government of Kenya to ensure they only secure safe Covid-19 Vaccine and not to rush for cheap products.

He was reacting to news announced by the Ministry of Health that the first consignment will be in the country by early January.

Sample vaccine being administered.

Odinga in the interview, mentioned that shall it be confirmed beyond reasonable doubt that the drug was safe, he will be among the first persons to get injected.

“If this vaccine is proven to be safe for use, there is no reason why I will not be ready…if it will help to encourage our people to take it in order to contain this pandemic,” he said.

And on his recent utterances over doctors’ strike, Odinga said he was not pushing anyone to work but that it was important to understand the situation the country was facing at such time.

“I only asked our health workers to be a little understanding and sympathize with our people, it is not that I was vilifying them as alleged. I only wanted them to understand the situation were are in and give room for dialogue,” he said.

The statement had set the ODM boss against the public who thought he was being so insensitive to their plight.

They then vowed to reject his BBI project which they thought was not also important for the country at the moment.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on Thursday December confirmed a staggering 552 new Covid-19 cases from 7,013 samples tested in the last 24 hours what shot high Kenya’s caseload to 93,405.
