Saturday, April 17, 2021 -Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has been leaking to his boss Raila Odinga any information DP William Ruto shared with him throughout their private meetings.

Defending the deputy party leader’s move to engage with Ruto, ODM Party Communication Director Philip Etale has now said Oparanya will not be blamed for that because he has been open anytime he meets with Ruto.

“Our ODM members and supporters should therefore not read any mischief in the said meetings that our DPL has held with the DP,” he maintained.

In his Saturday April 17 statement, Etale defended that the Kakamega Governor was still loyal to their party and has no plans to ditch them.

“Yes, it is true Oparanya has held a few meetings with Deputy President Ruto, be it in Nairobi or elsewhere. And as the great Mahatma Gandhi once said “Whenever you are confronted with an opponent. Conquer him with love,” the party wrote.

He added that none of their party members nor leaders was planning to switch camp including those who had applied to become 2022 flagbearers.

“Oparanya has not been on any mission of betrayal as some people may want it to look. Sometimes in politics, it is good to learn what your opponent is plotting and be able to get the best defense to counter them,” added Etale.

First to make wild allegations about Governor Oparanya almost crossing the line to the rival UDA Party was Mathira Legislator Rigathi Gachagua who recently divulged that the latter had finally made up his mind to join forces with Ruto.

Oparanya, though appeared to mix up his statements, had initially termed his latest meeting with Ruto as a “chance meeting”.
