ODM endorses Wiper’s Machakos candidate and not Chap Chap

Friday, January 29, 2021 – Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party will throw their weight behind Kalonzo Musyoka’s candidate Agnes Kavindu and not Maendeleo Chap Chap as was misreported by a section of the media.

Its National Office issued the clarification on Friday January 29 saying this was in accordance with the existing relationship between the parties under the umbrella of the Building Bridges Initiative BBI.

Reports were awash that ODM Party under th stewardship of former Premier Raila Odinga had decided to support the Maendeleo Chapchap candidate in the race after they had withdrawn their candidature.

“As a party, we did not front a candidate for the seat which fell vacant following the death of Senator Boniface Kabaka late last year. And therefore, in the spirit of NASA and BBI, the ODM party has resolved to rally its support behind the Wiper Party Candidate, Ms. Agnes Kavindu to become the next Senator of Machakos County,” partly read their clarification statement.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap Machakos Senatorial candidate Mutua Katuku had claimed support from ODM Party after he had reportedly met its regional official in the area.
