Sunday, August 25, 2024 –Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party has hinted at supporting President William Ruto’s remaining period including second term.
For the second time, Kisii Governor also ODM Party deputy, has given a direct hint of supporting Ruto to win office his second term.
Arati recently asked President William Ruto to start planning to join ODM Party saying he was ready to welcome him since Ruto is a founding member of ODM which has remained formidable for years.
And on Saturday August 24 during homecoming ceremony of CS Wycliffe Oparanya, the ODM Party deputy repeated urging Dr. Ruto not to be swayed by threats from sections in UDA Party saying ODM still has a space for him.
Governor Arati noted that, as the substantial founding member of ODM in the pentagon days, Ruto still stands high chances of coming on board for the support of the party.
The Kisii County boss further noted that those ODM Party key figures who recently joined the Cabinet should deliver services well since this will inform future political decisions.
“I urge ODM CSs to perform exceptionally in Ruto’s government. They should work so well that Ruto is impressed. Remember, Ruto was once part of ODM. If anyone in UDA tries to undermine his government, as ODM Deputy Party Leader, I will invite him to discuss how we can support him in 2027,” Arati stated.
Arati’s calls for President Ruto to join ODM comes against the backdrop of push and pull within the ruling coalition.
Last week, Laikipia MP Mwangi Kiunjuri took a sharp swipe at the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua whom he accused of attempting to sideline the president in the Mt. Kenya region.
Kiunjuri told the media that Gachagua is working to make sure his boss William Ruto nolonger has a say in the Central Region.
He claimed, therefore, that this plan is ill informed since it could turn out detrimental to the region which has enjoyed power for decades.
Same sentiments were shared by former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria who asked the region to stay close to power and ignore misleading voices.
