Thursday, July 13, 2023 –A section of Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party Members of County Assembly MCAs have apologized to the party leadership after they held a meeting with ruling party leaders on Friday last week.
The meeting between UDA stalwarts and ODM-allied MCAs took place in Nairobi on Friday July 7 where Cabinet Secretary for Roads Kipchumba Murkomen was present.
They were pictured in a happy mood together with ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo, a close confidant of President William Ruto from Nyanza Region.
And reacting to the speculations, both Silas Madingu of Central Gem Ward and Seth Baraka of East Gem Ward noted that their meeting had nothing to do with decamping from Azimio for Kenya Kwanza.
The MCAs have told different news outlets that they were tricked to have photos by Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo.
Explaining how this came by, Madingu alleged that they had gone to visit the MP to discuss development before he tricked them for a photo session with Murkomen and Owalo.
The MCAs who visited the MP together with their counterpart Brian Anyango Obiero (South Gem) and Philip Obonyo (North Gem) have since faced serious criticism and condemnation from Raila supporters since their visit coincided with Saba Saba Day.
This is happening even as ODM Party MPs and Senators who have since joined the William Ruto’s government continue to be on ODM Party radar for disciplinary measures.
Among other demands Raila wants Ruto to stop poaching and raiding leaders from his coalition.
On Wednesday this week, after his protests, Raila warned President Ruto against killing long-fought multipartyism in the country.
He said besides IEBC bipartisan reconstitution, Ruto must also consider supporting multipartyism or risk more protests.
