Suna East Lawmaker MP Junet Mohamed has proposed the scrapping of public participation as a pre-condition prior to implementation of development projects.
MP Junet said the recent cancellation of deals with India’s Adani Group is a perfect example of how the requirement for a nod from the public and other constitutional entities was stifling development in the country.
He added that Tanzania is currently engaging with Adani despite the controversy in Kenya; what shows how Kenya is losing important projects because of ignorance from the population.
The ODM election chairman further stated that, going forward, a law will be drafted to make it unnecessary for citizens to be allowed to have a say in key infrastructural plans.
His remarks coming shortly after his party colleague Ali Hassan Joho warned Kenyans against criticising government on both Twitter and Facebook.
Joho, while speaking in Mombasa in the presence of his boss William Ruto, threatened to rally State security agencies to crackdown on social media criticism.
