ODM Speaks on Wanjigi’s Chaotic Migori Tour

Friday, September 17, 2021 -Raila Odinga’s ODM Party has condemned the mistreatment meted on their member Jimmy Wanjigi during his Nyanza popularization tour.

Wanjigi’s convoy was pelted with stones as he snaked his way to Migori County where he was scheduled to meet ODM delegation to persuade them to support his presidential bid through ODM ticket which Odinga could also vie on.

In a video we have seen make rounds on social media, Wanjigi’s convoy which kicked off its tour around Nyanza region yesterday Thursday September 16 was today pelted with stones at Rongo area where he had made a stopover to wave to supporters.

This was made worse when he started asking the supporters to respond so him with his new campaign slogan ‘Fagia Wote‘.

“Nikisema ODM leo mnasema fagia wote mnasikia..ODM?,” he was heard saying before he was overwhelmed by the stones.

But ODM Party has taken to its official social media pages to condemn the act saying it goes against their rules on democracy.

“We have learnt of unfortunate incidents of violence in Migori involving Jimmy Wanjigi. The party takes this early opportunity to condemn the incidents and urge for tolerance and accommodation of every political view. We urge Police in Migori to ensure culprits are brought to book,” the Orange party stated.

Reacting to the news, Director of campaigns ODM Party Junet Mohamed claimed those who were involved in the violence are well known and therefore police should do their work as fast as possible.

“While the sponsors of political chaos in Migori are known, myself having been a victim in various occasions, this one cannot go on,” Junet said.

His sentiments were echoed by Secretary General Edwin Sifuna who said this will be investigated by both the party and police.

He revealed that after the incident he made a direct call to Mr. Wanjigi to confirm whether he was okay or had been hurt in the melee.
