Tuesday, November 2, 2021 –One Kenya Alliance outfit has maintained they don’t take orders from President Uhuru Kenyatta and his government.
Taking issues with the media, OKA principals led by Wiper Democratic Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his ANC counterpart Wickliffe Musalia Mudavadi claimed that the many reports printed by media about them were misleading and only meant to paint them as a weak coalition which relies on the orders from above to operate.
On Monday October 1, they called out a section of the media for reporting that they are being arm-twisted because they cannot stand on their own feet.
Reports have been ripe that the four – Musalia, Wetang’ula, Kalonzo and Gideon – are being intimidated to support Raila Odinga for the August 9, 2022 general polls.
“We wish to state that these reports are false, malicious, misleading and mischievous, and are calculated to achieve nothing more than to ridicule our principals,” the statement read in part.
OKA leaders refuted claims that they were summoned to the recent meeting with the head of State who advised them to quickly join hands with Odinga ahead of the 2022 elections or lose separately.
“At no time has His Excellency the President attempted to influence or derail the OKA campaigns directly, through proxies or otherwise,” OKA’s statement read.
Kalonzo on his part, charged that their team was taking full charge of organizing and funding their own campaigns and not the State.
They have since asked their supporters to ignore such misleading reporting from a section of the media which they claim seems to be already taking sides.
