Tuesday, May 9, 2023 –Lawyer Danstan Omari has threatened to sue the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI for their action in freezing accounts belonging to Kilifi-based pastor, Ezekiel Odero.
Omari has described this move by the DCI as frustrating and which he wants to fight until his client Pastor Ezekiel gets the required justice.
Speaking in Nairobi on Tuesday may 9 Morning, Omari together with his colleague Cliff Ombeta, claimed that the DCI wants to fish charges by all means against their client who is still innocent until otherwise.
Lawyer Omari was addressing the media after filing a court petition against the State, over the closure of Mavueni Church and Tv Station that belongs to their client.
He said Ezekiel’s accounts, since being frozen in Nairobi, instead of Mombasa where they were all opened, the church can nolonger meet its daily expenses including paying for lawyers’ services.
“While we were busy working on our case in Mombasa, the DCI went behind our backs and obtain a court order freezing the accounts of Pastor Ezekiel.
“This is an act of legal animosity which is very unnecessary since they had the option of filing the case in Mombasa where we were.
“All the bank accounts were registered in Mombasa, and none of them were opened in Nairobi. This has technically crippled financial activities that the Church of God does on a daily basis,” the Lawyer further lamented.
He, however, assured that their client will soon be vindicated of any wrong doing and the government will be ashamed.
The New Life Prayers Center and Church founder was recently set free with condition of not talking about Shakahola Forest matters. He was also directed to be reporting to the nearest DCI offices every week.
