Friday, March 22, 2024 –Armed goons discented on Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah shortly after leaving the court room over the controversial housing levy matter.

The vocal senator, on Friday, survived a second attack when armed men believed to have been hired for a reason trailed him with stones.

The first-time senator reported that, a mysterious car was, all along, trailing him after he left the Busia courts. The car would then go passed his car before a group of armed youths came out to stop him.

“My driver was able to speed off and enter the ATC Busia Agricultural Training College (ATC) which is under AP guards so I took refuge there. The police arrived and escorted me from the college,” he stated.

He however, managed to take off upto the Busia Agricultural Training College ATC which is under the police control.

“I was not injured, they only damaged the vehicle, Probox, which has a strong body and incurred minor dents. The stones did not hit the windows.”

Asked why he was being attacked, the lawmaker explained that he is currently pursuing traces of corruption in the Busia County Government.

“I was attacked by goons but I was not injured. There was a case I had sued the governor and ordered him to give me information on county operations including the expenditures, bank accounts and things I needed for my oversight work,” Senator Omtatah indicated.

He added that the goons had planned to harm him; this being part of the local politics meant to stop his pursuit for transparency and responsibility in county leadership.
