Only Fools run Away From Office, Power and Money

Chris Akali

Those who expected Raila Odinga to run away from William Ruto are not being sincere or honest with our politics. They must be having something wrong in their Medulla oblongata –the connection between the brain-stem and the spinal cord.

Odinga has been fighting for the presidency all these years; a struggle that is very expensive in cash and life. He is only still living by the grace of God. In fact, those who blocked his victories all these years are the ones who now claim that they can help him. Who told you he requires your help?

There is no single man on earth who can love to be going through what Raila has gone through all these time and still remain willing to repeat it upto thirty or forty years later. What Raila has endured is enough and it is time for us to take over. You can as well also tell your father to take over the struggle.

You can’t pretend to claim that you can be better than Raila given that position. Why can’t you then do right what Raila is doing wrong. When you run for the presidency, you do it to win power and not to lose. And after you lose and you get a second chance to be closer to power, you have to run for that chance. You do not run away from such a loophole. You can be a fool. Only fools can run away from power and money. Raila is not a fool.

Raila’s pact with President William Ruto today did not come as a surprise to some of us. He did the right thing a person of his age should do. Ruto came to him for help to run the government and he said ‘yes’. And that is the correct thing to do! In fact, Those who keep on blaming Raila every day that he betrayed them did not vote for him. And, maybe, they have never. Those of us who voted him are happy with what he has done today.

Helping Ruto, atleast, for  once, is not a crime, Ruto has stood with Odinga many times and it is time for him to reciprocate. And for the Kikuyus who thought Raila will always be on the streets, learn the new WORLD order now. He is not coming back on the streets. Baba is old enough to now relax in an office as he counts his sunset days.

“I don’t blame Raila Odinga at all. I blame those who have consistently refused to vote for him five times he has presented himself on the ballot. He is a human being, not an angel. Let’s leave Baba to rest and let youths go to the street and continue the fight for a better Kenya,” Caleb Amisi, MP Saboti, wrote on X.

I, therefore, urge those close to the impeached Mr. Gachagua to tell him to run opposition protests with the help of Martha Karua because they are much more energetic than Raila Odinga who has hit 80+ years. Gachagua keeps calling Raila ‘Mzee’ all the time. How do you again expect a Mzee to confront tear-gass when your younger self is sited with a remote in your home?

Game is Over and let Ruto work with Raila to make the country better. There is also no crime in Ruto saying ‘I want help to govern’. That cannot amount to selfishness. It is patriotism.
