Friday, February 11, 2022 –Kakamega Governor Wickliffe Oparanya has refuted claims doing rounds on social media that he is headed to Kenya Kwanza alliance.
Responding to Lilian Muli who had ought for his response on Citizen Tv news, Governor Oparanya noted that the rumor being spread around was the work of his opponents who had felt the heat on the ground. He said Azimio la Umoja had become so big that some individuals in Ruto’s camp were feeling politically threatened.
Asked if he has been speaking with Ruto or holding any night meetings with the second in command, the governor said that for over four months now he had not called, nor met the DP.
“I have never imagined joining Kenya Kwanza Alliance. I have also not spoken to Ruto for many months,” he added.
He went on to state that the Kenya Kwanza coalition was a big mistake for the country and that those who had already joined would be regretting soon.
“Their ideologies are too different from what we have, I would rather retire and go to the village than to be seen with Ruto,” the governor added.
He also defended his absence in the ongoing Azimio la Umoja campaigns in Western Kenya saying he was mandated by Raila to step in for him at Chungwa House to run administrative duties because he(Raila) is out of the country.
On Friday February 11 evening, social media was awash with claims that the Kakamega governor was on his way out to the newly formed Kenya kwanza coalition and that he would be unveiled in their Saturday rally at scheduled at Malemba, Kakamega.
