Thursday, April 26, 2024 –Siaya Governor James Aggrey Orengo has challenged the anti-graft agency to dare arrest him as it had threatened earlier this week.

The first time Governor, while reacting to a statement from the Ethics and Anti-corruptioon Commission EACC, described the threats as not only empty but also reckless, irresponsible and unjustified claims that may not go far.

“Complaints in regard thereto have been made many a time. But apropos the Governor, we say bring it on without delay,” Orengo commented.

Orengo’s remarks came shortly after Twalib Mbarak, in a commission workshop, mentioned that a prominent governor, who also practised law, was under their scrutiny.

“Yesterday the noise they made one of the people there was a governor and his county is on our red flag so you can tell that lawyer-cum-governor we may end up in his place very soon,” Twalib Mbraka stated in reference to Orengo.

“We did not start investigating Wairia and Wataani yesterday or six months ago, we started it long ago even when he was the CS treasury, we were still investigating him on issues when he was a governor,” Mbarak added.

The cryptic comments from the EACC CEO happening just hours after Lawyer Orengo appeared in court to defend former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani, who faced graft allegations and was arrested by the EACC.

Reacting to this Lawyer Miguna Miguna supported that Orengo ought not to represent suspects at the time he is still serving as Siaya County Governor. Miguna who is also a lawyer described this as unethical.
