Monday, August 22, 2022 –Azimio la Umoja senior lawyer James Orengo has said Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati should be indicted and permanently barred from chairing the electoral body.

He also revealed that as Azimio advocates, they have asked the Supreme Court to quash the William Ruto’s recent victory as was declared by Mr. Chebukati whose other commissioners are not in agreement with.

“We have enough evidence that Chebuati has a criminal conduct/ transgressions and lack any integrity to run any other election in the country,” he told the media immediately after filing the case today at the Supreme Court.

The seasoned senior counsel who was among the lawyers that saw the 2017 Uhuru Kenyatta’s election overturned, said the evidence they had gathered in 2022 and put together is stronger than any other and has a belief that it will bring victory on their side.

He added that they had noticed Form 34A/B interference in the IEBC system in favour of William Ruto; what they are ready to demonstrate in the court.

The lawyer also said that incase there will be held a recount, Mr. Odinga will definitely be declared the new president-elect.

Those who accompanied Orengo are his fellow lawyers, Party boss Raila Odinga who is the main petitioner, running mate Martha Karua and Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka.
