Wednesday, July 26, 2023 –Rarieda Member of Parliament MP Otiende Amollo has confessed having accompanied Azimio la Umoja boss Raila Odinga to meet President Samia Suluhu, two weeks ago.
Speaking on Spice FM’s Situation Room interview on Wednesday July 26 morning, the former Ombudsman disclosed that the Tanzanian head of State was around for days but was snubbed by the William Ruto’s side.
He stated this in corroboration with what Mr.Odinga stated yesterday during his meeting with the international media.
Otiende has said, there were people also from Azimio camp who did not want Odinga to have that meeting same to government side.
“I was with Raila when he was going to meet President Samia Suluhu, and there were people even from our side who did not want that meeting to happen,” MP Omollo stated.
He also expressed his displeasure with the way Ruto had decided to communicate with the opposition leader through a public tweet.
“If William Ruto wanted to speak to Raila, he would not tweet him but call him or send someone to call him because it has happened before,” the MP added.
Amollo defended the coalition’s decision to quit bipartisan talks saying the government side was not sure with being part of any fruitful conversation.
He also warned this government against treating demonstrations as a small matter saying this is no longer about Odinga; it is coming a day Raila will lose control of the raging crowd and nobody will call this to order.
His statement on the availability of mama Samia Suluhu in the country was corroborated with former National Assembly Speaker Farah Maalim who noted that the person of Odinga cannot publicly tell international community about another president if that is not true.
He said, indeed, it is wrong top doubt Raila’s sentiments on President Suluhu arrival in the country for mediation.
