Pandora Leaks Exposes Kenyatta Family’s Wealth in Offshore Accounts

Monday, October 4, 2021 -Kenyatta family is on the spot for allegedly stashing billions of money in offshore accounts. This is according to an investigative piece dubbed Pandora Papers.

In the papers, which make one of the biggest leaks in financial sector and which contains 12 million files obtained by International Consortium for Investigative Journalist ICIJ has put the founding family at the center of graft with offshore accounts and companies valued at a staggering sh 3.3 billion.

Reports show that the founding family is believably the richest so far in the country with interests in major sectors including financial, agriculture, banking, media and hospitality.

In the Pandora leaks, Mama Ngina Kenyatta, the incumbent president Uhuru Kenyatta, his sisters, brothers and the larger first family have amassed a lot of wealth in offshore and in the tax havens of Panama and British Virgin Island.

ICIJ detailed to over 600 investigative journalists worldwide alongside a Panamanian law firm Aleman, Cordero Galindo & Lee(Alcogal) that the Kenyatta family alone owns at least seven companies and foundations in the tax havens.

“The records show that the family owned at least seven such entities, two registered anonymously in Panama and five in the British Virgin Islands,” partly read the ICIJ records.

Furthermore, one of the companies owned by the Kenyatta has multi-million homes in British Virgin Island, United Kingdom and in Central London.

It is reported that the British Islands is one of the most notorious tax havens in the whole world where looted billions are stashed by politicians, businessmen, gold scammers and notorious money launderers.

In the shocking Pandora papers, Mama Ngina Kenyatta and his son Uhuru Kenyatta are reportedly the sole owners of Variers Foundation – a trust foundation deliberately started to manage and shelter wealth for beneficiaries.

The leaks listed the Kenyattas among the 35 other top world leaders who includes President Ali Bongo of Gabon and King of Jordan as among the most influential figures with a lot of wealth stashed in foreign accounts.

The Kenyatta family has been in power since independence with the young Kenyatta who is now the incumbent having been elected into Statehouse in 2013 alongside his deputy William Ruto who has also been accused severally of being a beneficiary of illicit wealth.
