Plot by Sudi to Postpone his Forgery Case After Elections Flops

Thursday, May 19, 2022 –Prayer by Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi that his case be pushed forward after next general elections has been denied admissibility by the court.

In his ruling today, Anti-corruption court Chief Magistrate Felix Komobo ruled that the case has dragged on for long and that it cannot be pushed forward again as it is now time bound.

Komobo ordered Sudi, who reportedly is out of the country, to appear before his court on Thursday failure to which the case will go on in his absenter.

“The accused person must demonstrate to court that he is unable to attend court and his lawyers must obtain a waiver for his non-attendance so that the case proceeds in his absence. The matter has taken too long to conclude and the court will not give any more adjournments,” ruled Kombo.

The case had been scheduled to resume yesterday Wednesday May 18 but his lawyers led by George Wajakoyah and Collins Kiprono explained to the court that their client was out of the country for health reasons and he will be appearing when he is back.

They told the court that Sudi had flown to Turkey seeking treatment over unknown illness that had taken a toll on him; a reason the prosecution side heavily protested.

“There is no evidence that he traveled too Turkey or details of location of the hospital he went to. What we have is just a notification that he is ailing but nothing to show that he needs further treatment outside the country,” ruled Kombo.

Sudi is supposed to clear his name over forgery of academic papers; which credentials he presented to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC for clearance ahead of the August 9 elections.

The suspect forged a Diploma Certificate in Business Management purporting that it was issued by Kenya Institute of Management (KIM), a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education and school leaving certificate from Highway High School.

During the session, it emerged that school heads from the named schools where the MP purported to have sat the final examinations refuted the claims saying the MP’s name did not feature anywhere in their register.

Sudi is defending his Parliamentary seat in Kapsaret Constituency.
