Thursday, July 7, 2022 –Police in Khayega Kakamega County are detaining a bull after it trampled to death a woman in the area.
The Wednesday July 6 horrific incident which left the area in complete shock saw the owner, Josphart Bulimo, also arrested and dragged to the police station awaiting charges.
Sources who spoke to Homenews.co.ke revealed that the bull is nicknamed ‘Tusker’ and which broke loose, went berserk before it started chasing everyone who was in the vicinity.
The owner’s attempt to contain and drive it back home also did not bear fruits and in the process, the bull jumped up and down, hit to death the victim, Felistus Luda 60.
Confirming the incident, Bonventure Munanga, who is the director of the Kakamega County Bullfighting Association KCBA said the victim’s attempt to escape safe did not help much since the bull overwhelmed her by first putting her to the ground.
“The woman could not run fast enough since she had sustained an injury in a past accident and she was unfortunately killed by the bull,” said Mr Munanga.
Police led by Robert Makau were called in to try and rescue the bull from the scared villagers who had already started plotting on how to also kill it.
“The DCIO is handling the investigations. The owner of the bull will appear in court on Thursday to face charges related to negligence in handling the animal,” said Mr Makau.
Attempts by the owner to try and square this out of court had not resulted into amicable solution.
