National Police Service NPS has broken the silence over increased wave of horror street abductions around the country.

In an official statement on Thursday December 26, Inspector of Police IG Douglas Kanja said the police unit is not allowed to abduct.

He noted that every police officer is allowed to lawfully arrest criminal case and not to abduct.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the National Police Service is not involved in any abduction, and there is no police station in the country that is holding the reported abductees,” IG Kanja remarked.

While addressing the issue, the police IG urged citizens to exercise their rights and freedom of speech responsibly without exceeding reasonable boundaries.

Kanja accused a section of Kenyans of spreading false, fabricated, malicious, distasteful and unverified information which he claimed were aimed at tarnishing the reputation and image of the National Police Service.

He spoke this shortly after Hon Raila Odinga had weighed in the matter. Odinga warned the State against taking the comeback to the dark Nyayo House era.

Other leaders who have since fired warnings at the William Ruto led administration include Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Narc Kenya Martha Karua, etc.
