Thursday, August 10, 2023 –Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi now claims that the police is now bribing demonstration victims so that to silence them.

In this Friday August 11 revelation, the Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party member of Parliament stated that he had gathered enough evidence from sources confirming that the police were working day in day out to change the narrative on police brutality.

The Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome on Sunday, March 26

“Police are trying to bribe families of those who died in protests to say their kin died of pneumonia. I have two people – one from Kawangawre and the other from Kangemi who were shot dead with live bullets; but the police have visited their families with money and intimidation,” Tim Wanyonyi said this on Friday when the Azimio la Umoja leaders were meeting families of those who were affected in the protests for prayers.

He mentioned the two- Kalasinga and David Omondi whose families are now under police radar to accept bribes so that to change the story on their slain loved ones.

He further said that Omondi was short nine times by the police while Kalasinga was also shot in cold blood during the peaceful protests.

The lawmaker asserted that the opposition will continue to press for justice for any supporter who lost life in the protests.

The MP was speaking this in the presence of his party leader Raila Odinga, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka and scores of other leaders including Roots Party leader Prof. George Luchiri Wajackoyah.

Police General Inspector Japhet Koome, this week, claimed that Azimio was hiring dead bodies in mortuaries to report to the media that the deaths had been caused by the police.

In their sharp response, morticians sought more answers on the claims saying it could be convincing if the IG showed any written data to prove that Azimio was working with mortuaries to paint the police in bad faith.

Azimio led by Mr. Odinga also took-on the IG wondering where he was getting the misleading information when bodies of those who died had bullet wounds and an accompanying medical report.
