Tuesday, December 12, 2023 -President William Ruto has today declared the country safe from foreign debt burden.
Ruto also promised to strengthen the Autonomy of counties as part of devolution as anchored in law.
In the Tuesday Jamhuri Day celebrations held at Uhuru Gardens, on Tuesday December 12, the head of State said, Bipartisan structured talks have made this country habitable and a government to emulate by others.
He promised that devolution and empowerment of county assemblies remain crucial in his governance plan.
Dr. Ruto noted further that future elections must be free and fair so that not to derail the milestone the nation has reached after many years of struggle with democracy.
“We have to make sure elections are less about personalities and self interesr.
“The last election was a true show and display of the will of people,” he said in his speech during Jamhuri Day celebration attended by over 30,000 people.
Ruto added that, since taking charge, the country is now among the fastest growing economies in the world.
He added that his resolve to deal with the burden of debt was quickly and steadily paying off and assured the country of economic stability in few years time.
Additionally, Ruto said, he is committed to support the independence of independent arms of government like the Judiciary and the Parliamenr.
This, he noted, will not only promote constitutionalism but also the rule of law.
Present in the 60th Jamhuri Day national event were fellow Presidents from across East African nations, govenors, senators, MPs among other notable figures in the country.
