Thursday, February 1, 2024 –President William Ruto has spoken to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu over the state of security between Israel and Palestine.
Through a Thursday February statement shared on his official X Platform, Dr. Rutop said he had phoned the Israel commander-in-chief and requested him to consider overall peace for the sake of lives being lost as well as global economy.
“I have had a telephone engagement with Prime Minister Netenyahu of Israel. I have expressed Kenya’s concerns over the deteriorating situation in Gaza where loss of lives has reached unacceptable levels,” Ruto revealed their conversation today.
Offering his two-cents on how to end the standoff, Ruto said two sides can seat and resolve their differences in peace and so fast.
“I underscored Kenya’s belief in a two-state solution that would allow a peaceful side-by-side existence of the states of Israel and Palestine.
“I am hopeful of an immediate end to the conflict in Gaza. Kenya abhors all forms of terrorism and it is our principled position that they must be eradicated,” he also said.
AlJazeera reports of January 2, indicated that Israeli attacks have continued across the Gaza Strip with little let-up, as the death toll in the enclave rose above the latest milestone of 22,000.
The publication confirmed that the total number of Palestinians killed in Gaza since October 7 now stands at 22,185, while at least 57,000 have been injured, the Ministry of Health said on Tuesday.
