President’s Wednesday Impromptu Tour in Kisumu

Wednesday, January 12, 2022 –President Uhuru Kenyatta today visited Raila Odinga’s backyard bringing activities to a standstill.

Kenyatta made the Wednesday January 12 stopover in Kisumu via military chopper that touched down at the Kisumu Port at around 15 minutes to 3.

On arrival, Mr. Kenyatta walked to the Kenya shipyard section located within the port where he inspected the ongoing construction of the MV Uhuru II ship.

He would later fly to Mbita in Homabay County for the inspection of the ongoing dredging on Lake Victoria.

The construction of the port is aimed at revamping port activities so that to boost East and Central Africa trade activities.

The potential trade output for the port is $60 billion but currently it can only produce 10 percent of this to the big EAC economic bloc.

The president was last at the port during the 58th Madaraka Day celebrations which was held at Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium. He was in the company of his handshake partner and host Raila Odinga.

He used the opportunity to remind the country that it is his duty to make sure every part of the country is developed as was the wishes of the founding fathers of the nation.
