Tuesday, May 25, 2021 -President Uhuru Kenyatta, in just a period of four years, has tried hard to complete projects that had stalled in their first term.
Pundits even think many of these projects were completed during the Handshake period 2018/2021; unlike in their first term with Deputy President William Ruto when most of these projects had to stall. Many of these projects were also started at inflated costs that made it hard for the government to fully fund.
For instance, Kisumu Port is already complete at a mere 3 billion. Before then, the management of Kenya Ports Authority KPA had given the president a cost of sh 18 billion. Uhuru Kenyatta has delivered much between 2018 to 2021. In fact far much better than the Kibaki error.
Among the many projects Uhuru has pushed through to completion during the Handshake period are:
- Kenya Meat Commission which roared back to life last Monday May 24 after the head of State president over its relaunch. It was successfully renovated by the Kenya Defense Forces.
- Rivatex which Uhuru reopened in 2019 in Uasin Gishu County two decades after its collapse due to mismanagement.
- Kisumu Port whose refurbishment was done in early 2020 where the State confirmed to have used sh 3 billion. It will be launched anytime soon.
- MV Uhuru Ferry which will be operational in Kisumu after it collapsed in 2006. Both Mv Uhuru and MV Umoja will be live in a short while.
- Naivasha-Kisumu Railway. The train had been forgotten many years ago but today its undergoing a thorough refurbishment and last
- Airstrips which include Kakamega, Nyaribori in Nyeri and Migori Airstrip.
