Racketeering Gang Threaten KTN Reporter in Nairobi

Monday, September 27, 2021 -KTN Tv Reporter Siraju Rahman – a Swahili presenter – also an anchor was over the weekend threatened by a racketeering gang in Nairobi CBD.

He was forced to run for his deer life after one of the gang leaders faced him in the eye and promised to gun him down for meddling in their survival affairs.

“However, if I ever set my eyes on this one again, I will put a bullet through his head. You know I have a gun, don’t you.

“You know why. This is not the first time you are meddling into my business. Just know that I will deal with you accordingly,” the gang went on.

Following the remarks the journalist had nothing left for him but to run away knowing very well his goose had been cooked.

It is revealed that he has been investigating the gang for over 8 months now but this time his days were numbered and couldn’t go further. The gang is one of the no nonsense groupings in the city and have operated there for decades.

A source disclosed that Rahman, his English reporter counterpart Fred Kagonye and a plain clothed policeman had confronted the fraudsters to refund the money they had swindled a university student just afew days ago.

It first started when the said reporters found the female student crying on the streets and accompanied her to Kamukunji Police Station where the matter was filed. The police luckily identified the gang and went after it. But when they arrived, the gang refused to refund the sh 1,500.

“I first gave them Ksh500 in cash. They asked if I had any other money on my phone. They wanted Ksh5,000 but I only had Ksh1,000, which I sent to her,” the emotional student narrated.

Then one lady within the gang deleted the MPESA transaction from her phone pretending that she was confirming if she was the right person receiving the cash.

Further, it was found out that another woman also lost a whopping sh 5,500 salary in a well-organized plan that began with her being asked to pick up a pen that had fallen on the ground.

Around the city, according to KTN, there are more than 30 gangs operating and conning people their hard-earned money every day.
