Tuesday, August 2, 2022 –Latest opinion poll has hammered the last nail in Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential coffin after his rival Raila Odinga beat him by a six point margin.
According to IPSOS opinion poll released on Tuesday August 2 morning, Mr. Odinga is currently at 47 percent while his close rival William Ruto is at 41 percent.
On the other hand, Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah enjoys a 2.9 percent popularity while David Mwaure of Agano Party remained at 0.2 percent.
The pollster indicated that due to age factor, some citizens feel Mr. Odinga needs to rest and leave the country to a more energetic team.
“Those who will not vote for Raila stated that they will not vote for him because of the age factor.
“Those who will vote for Ruto stated they supported him because they believe he has a plan. However, those who will not vote for him indicate that they have an issue with his integrity,” IPSOS disclosed.
Further, Odinga enjoys a lot of support – 50% – in urban centers where Ruto’s Hustler narrative is viewed as a mere rhetoric slogan.
Ruto however, is enjoying majority of his support – 45%- from the rural areas where many desperate Kenyans reside and think he will rescue them from their life predicaments.
IPSOS also announced that Mr. Odinga gets a majority of support from men while Kenya Kwanza attracts their huge support from women.
In Nairobi County, according to another survey released by Tifa today Tuesday August 2, Ruto is seemingly closing in on Odinga as Election Day nears.
The poll showed that Azimio’s Raila Odinga is the most preferred presidential candidate in Nairobi County with a 52 percent approval rating as DP Ruto of Kenya Kwanza stood at 34 per cent.
