Saturday, July 24, 2021 -Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is now applying the colonial ‘divide and rule’ law to weaken the newly formed One Kenya Alliance.
In a fresh political twist that would see him remain the strongest among the four principals in NASA, Odinga has sat down Kalonzo Musyoka and promised to share with him the NASA 2017/18 political parties billions.
It is apparent that Odinga has now shifted his focus on fighting for his space as the kingpin in the new opposition force or coalition that is poised to face-off with DP Ruto’s Hustler Nation.
And now with Kalonzo out of the defiant group of Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula, it has become so easy for Raila to match on with his 2022 ambitions. Musalia and Wetang’ula cannot be a threat to anyone owing to the fact that they all come from the same region. Gideon, on the other hand, is not yet made up his mind but there is high hope that he will be joining Odinga in due course.
Moreover, it is in public domain that Odinga’s ODM Party had insisted that the cash they had received from the political parties kitty did not consider other NASA affiliates since it did not participate in the repeat elections. However this change of heart is another master stroke from the son of Oginga.
“If Musyoka breaks away from OKA, the alliance will remain feeble with the likes of Mudavadi and Wetangula coming from the same community. Gideon is wavering and cannot be trusted as he is still unsure of his future.
“The junior Moi is also struggling to cement his name in the political arena and the three would not have much influence,” University of Nairobi lecturer and political analyst, Dr Jane Thuo predicted.
He added that, unlike William Ruto who likes walking around with underdogs, Odinga is not leaving behind his strong lieutenants. He is taking one and coming back for another until the last one.
Sources who spoke to the media revealed that Kalonzo did not want to leave NASA because he has positions in parliament courtesy of the formation.
