Monday, August 2, 2021 -Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party leader Raila Odinga on Sunday caused jitters among political class after he was spotted using a government car.
On Sunday August 1, the former premier who was touring Migori County specifically in Suna East where his confidant Junet Mohamed hails from made a stately entry through a black GK Prado.
Mr. Odinga made his entry aboard a Government of Kenya GoK vehicle what Deputy President William Ruto’s allies seemed to rant bout. MP Caleb Kositany alleged that the vehicle was a clear indication that Odinga is already enjoying full government powers and machinery ahead of the 2022 elections.
“ODM is fully in government. Note the GK vehicle Raila is using,” Kositany argued, sparking mixed reactions from a section of Kenyans.
Since their March 2018 Handshake with the president, the opposition honcho has been so close to State agencies and this seems to be graduating into something even as campaigns move closer.
But responding to the comments, Junet Mohamed clarified that the car whi ch Odinag was using belongs to him (Junet) by virtue of his position as a Minority Whip.

“The GK vehicle was mine given to me by Parliament for the position of Minority Whip. He (Raila) was coming to my home in Migori and I used to ferry him to my home in Migori after he landed in the county aboard a chopper,” the MP said.
As of now, Jubilee and ODM Party are in top gear planning to work together ahead of 2022 general election.
This means that if Jubilee agrees on the Raila candidature, Ruto may have to contend with competing against a fully-fledged State power.
