Friday, September 16, 2022 –Azimio la Umoja coalition leadership has plans to stage an energetic opposition to counter excesses in the current government.
Making the announcement today Friday September 16 afternoon, the trio of Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua who were meeting their elected Members of Parliament MPs, said they are ready to check the government of William Ruto so that it doesn’t mess the country.
Odinga who, for the first time, thanked his supporters around the country for their unconditional support to his course, said Azimio has a majority of MPs in Parliament and showed optimism of clinching House positions when the sittings officially kicks off what he said will help in shaping the agenda of the country.
“We once again thank Kenyans for voting for us and standing firmly with Azimio. As the majority coalition in the national assembly, we’ll play our oversight role robustly to ensure resources are prudently utilized by the executive. We will not be cowed,” he said.
He also later took a swipe at President William Ruto for making roadside pronouncements on important national and international matters.
“Reports circulating that I attacked Ruto’s decision to review Kenya’s policy on Polisario are erroneous. I never mentioned Polisario and I know the important and beneficial relations between Kenya and Morocco. I questioned the trend of roadside declarations on weighty issues,” Odinga clarified.
The opposition honcho jetted back in the country two days ago after spending a full week in Zanzibar Islands where he had gone to relax with family following election shock.
