Thursday, February 10, 2022 –Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has for the first time spoken about what caused rift between him and his party leader Raila Odinga.
While appearing on a sit down live interview on KTN Tv on Wednesday February 9 night, the tycoon who is also vying for the presidency disclosed how they had all agreed to over-throw the State on March 8, 2018 but Raila changed his mind without informing some of them.
Wanjigi detailed that Raila had also phoned James Orengo asking him for the next course of action and they all had one resolution – to take power from Uhuru by force by March 27, 20218.
He noted that Uhuru was not a legitimate head of State and therefore plan to remove him from power were in top gear and acceptable across the board.
“The day before, he called Orengo and myself asking the next move after he had been sworn in as People’s president and we agreed on a direction. That direction was quite radical and it meant that we are now going to State House on March 27 in order to take office. I was shocked that the next day he went to shake hands with Uhuru,” Wanjigi recounted.
The businessman went further to state that a move to join hands with Mr. Kenyatta was the most strange thing Odinga did to them since it only amounted to betrayal for the people who supported his bid.
“I can give you some history lessons, when Raila Odinga went and shook Uhuru Kenyatta’s hands in 2018, he did so without involving his generals who have moved with him the length and breadth of this country.
“When he did so, it seems like that was a surrender as he did not go with terms or rules of engagement,” Wanjigi also added.
Wanjigi told KTN that he had no bad blood with Odinga but he finds it hard to forget the kind of open betrayal his party leader did for his people when he quietly walked to the Statehouse to shake hands with a man they were all fighting. This according to the mogul was their main parting point.
Furious Wanjigi has since joined the presidential race with an intention to take over ODM Party from Mr. Odinga whom he thinks is not a serious leader who has skills to win and take power fro opponents.
