Tuesday, July 5, 2022 –Opposition leader also Azimio la Umoja flag-bearer Raila Odinga has issued a seven day ultimatum to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati to urgently address thorny issues in the elections preparedness.
In a letter through Lawyer Paul Mwangi, Mr. Odinga indicated that Chebukati and his team had ignored many pertinent issues that he had raised in his previous letter.
In the demand letter seen by Homenews.co.ke on Monday July 4, Odinga noted that Chebukati was not keen on taking their contributions serious by not responding to their letter dated June 27.
In the stated letter, Azimio leader wanted to be furnished with a list of all polling stations alongside their geo-reference, information on Kenya Integrated Election Management System (KIEMS) kits, training of election officials, election management and clear measures taken against IEBC officials implicated in the illegal transfer of voters.
Raila now wants Chebukati to organize a bilateral consultative meeting with his team within the next seven days or they take action.
Raila further has asked Chebukati to expedite creating time to take teams to Lykos Printing Press in Athens, Greece where August 9 ballot papers are being prepared.
And as if that is not enough, the opposition supremo wants nitty-gritty details on the way KIEMS kit had been prepared and be guaranteed of a free and fair election process.
