Thursday, September 30, 2021 -Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party leader Raila Odinga today met with a section of Mt Kenya members of Parliament at Serena Hotel for Breakfast.
Odinga, after leaving Gideon Moi’s KANU Delegates Meeting at Bomas, drove straight to Serena Hotel for the meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s close allies.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Mr. Odinga updated that this is the start of the long journey of uniting the country ahead of 2022 politics
“Kicked off the day meeting with leaders from Mt Kenya. We are coming together. Moving forward together,” Odinga tweeted.
In his address, the former premier simply noted that his main mission was to look for ‘partners and not supporters’ to make his 2022 bid admirable.
“We are committed to fighting poverty so that we can raise our people to prosperity, we are committed to ensuring that our children get proper education,” Odinga said.
Their discussion centered on matters of national interest same to mutual concerns including succession politics and how to market his bid around their region.
“PL Raila Odinga this morning held a consultative meeting with members of the Mt. Kenya Parliamentary Group at Serena Hotel. The leaders discussed matters of mutual interest not limited to the 2022 politics,” part of the statement by ODM Party read.
Members of Parliament who attended the early morning meeting are MP Kanini Kega from Kieni, Ngunjiri Wambugu(Nyeri Town), Amos Kimunya(Kipipiri) and Sabina Chege(Murang’a) among others.
Orange Democratic Party MPs also accompanied Odinga among them Junet Mohamed from Suna East who however chose to keep low profile throughout the meeting.
