Addressing in a clip seen by this desk on Sunday August 27, the opposition honcho was concerned by the poor road network in the area saying, during his leadership with Kibaki, many roads were earmarked in time and tarmacked accordingly.
Unfortunately, he said, today, many of the important roads had been abandoned and their poor state affairs was worrying; what requires an urgent attention.
“Today I came and met poor roads. I drove through very bad roads looking like that going to God. You know in the Bible, bad roads lead to God and good ones head to the Devil,” he lamented.
He added that, during his stint as Roads, Public Works and Housing minister, he worked on many roads in Kajiado and across the country.
“I remember when I was Roads Minister, Saitoti asked me to build your roads and I did it. Now the person who is in that office, is my student in politics, I am going to Nairobi to ask Murkomen to build these roads,” Raila promised.
Raila, who wound up his day in Kajiado County with a meet and greet session, had the privilege of spending the afternoon with faithful at the Annual Conference hosted by the Inter-Ministries Union of Kajiado County, which was held at Enkasiti Primary School.
Odinga was accompanied by a section of Azimio luminaries among them Narc-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua, Ex-Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria among many others.
In July 2003, Members of Parliament praised the then Roads, Public Works and Housing Minister Raila Odinga for his outstanding performance, aimed at revolutionising the ministry.
They said there was hope of rehabilitating damaged roads and building many new ones within a short period under the leadership of Odinga.
