Kawangware Estate was on Sunday October 4th brought to a sudden standstill when Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party leader visited the area.
A section of youths blocked roads for Mr. Raila Odinga’s motorcade to make sure he stopped and addressed them before he could leave the area after a church service he had attended.
The youths chanted ‘Agwambo’ slogans as they demanded he address them after a daylong church service at United Ministries Church UMC.
From the photos which we have received on our news desk, Mr. Odinga was seen accompanied by Makadara MP George Aladwa, Dagoretti’s Simba Arati, Nominated MP Denitta Agati, ODM Sec Gen Edwin Sifuna among other elected and non elected leaders.
Odinga concentrated his church service speech on Covid -19 situation in the country saying it was commendable to see Kenyans unite against the virus which has so far claimed afew more lives in the country and millions across the globe.
“I’m confident that with God’s favour we will overcome the pandemic, and the devil will be defeated. I want to thank Kenyans for showing patriotism during this difficult period. I also want to thank the healthcare workers for putting their lives at risk to treat patients. We are not out of the woods yet, but I know we will unite and defeat the virus,” said Odinga.
Making his remarks on the state of corruption in the country, ODM’s Party leader Mr. Odinga noted that to change this culture in the country, there was need to avoid leaders whose character pointed at corruption saying the likes of DP William Ruto were dangerous hands to leave this country to.
Ruto was elsewhere in Murang’a where he had been invited to preside over a church fundraiser.
On his way back, he made several stopovers among them at Githurai where he addressed hundreds of his supporters.
