Friday, April 29, 2022 –There was witnessed a short scuffle at Nyayo National Stadium today April 29 after security team at the venue clashed on protocol.

In the video uploaded on Hometube channel, Raila Odinga and his wife Ida can be seen arriving for Mwai Kibaki’s State funeral service, and walk smoothly through the security hurdles as his bodyguards also followed him. However, hell broke loose when the security team wanted to also access the VIP holding area.

At that particular point, the scuffle ensued between the factions before the former PM bodyguards were subdued by the State security team manning the area.

The Azimio-One Kenya presidential candidate had just made his way to the stadium for the funeral service of Kenya’s third President Mwai Kibaki, who died on April 22, 2022.

Mr. Odinga alongside his wife Ida landed at the stadium at around 9:50 AM, and upon disembarking from their cars, they went straight to the VIP holding area, with their bodyguards in tow.

The bodyguards were, however, blocked by the security officers at the entrance area as they sought to follow their boss Odinga and Ida into the lounge.

Committed to ensuring the prominent couple’s security was guaranteed, the bodyguards, who were dressed in a grey suit, attempted to force their way in but this couldn’t go far.

One of the security officers manning the entrance could be heard assuring Odinga’s team that the couple (Raila and Ida) were quite safe inside there while another ordered them to stop causing unnecessary commotion at the entrance.

Media later reported that the security officers who blocked their colleagues at Nyayo Stadium are part of the President’s detail.

Principal Administrative Secretary PAS at the Office of the President, Kennedy Kihara, on Wednesday, April 27, announced that all VIP security details will not be allowed inside and that all high profile individuals will be protected by president Uhuru Kenyatta’s security detail and the military.
