Saturday, February 3, 2024 –Azimio leader Raila Odinga has faulted the manner in which this government is implementing affordable housing programme.
Odinga now says the affordable housing plan is something good for the nation, but faults its design and implementation.
“This government need to have public input. Listen to people and designers. Having a one-fits-all approach is the key mistake Ruto is making on this project.
“I was once in government and after benchmarking, I came up with different sizes and designs for every level citizen and area,” he said.
He said, while he served as minister for Roads, Transport, and Housing, he designed the country’s housing strategy and introduced the programme after benchmarking abroad.
Raila was speaking this days after President William Ruto reaffirmed his commitment to push through the controversial housing project that has since divided the country in between.
The project requires every employee, either private or public, to part with monthly housing levy deducted from their salaries.
