Monday, March 14, 2022 –Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party boss Raila Odinga and his lean team from Kenya have touched down in London, safely.
Odinga who was accompanied by Governor Charity Ngilu and former Gatanga lawmaker Peter Kenneth updated his social media platform saying they had arrived safely before a video surfaced online with Odinga alighting from a car in London City.
On landing down, Raila was officially received by Kenya’s High Commissioner to UK Mr. Manoah Esipisu.
Odinga’s itinerary indicated that he will be having a very busy schedule as he is expected to meet senior UK government officials, religious leaders and hold talks with Kenyans living there.
His trip comes under a week after Deputy President William Ruto, his close rival in the presidential race, led his Kenya Kwanza Alliance team for a similar visit which was described as ‘political’.
According to the People Daily, Odinga is expected to meet Lord Tarif Ahmad, the UK minister for South Asia and North Africa, Theo Clarke, UK’s Trade representative to Kenya, the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and will also interact with the Kenyan diaspora.
The ODM Party leader will also be expected to speak on the country’s elections and how he intends to address issues like the economy, the debt crisis and corruption should he win the elections.
“At this event, Raila Odinga will share his vision for Kenya and Africa in an increasingly uncertain world, and will reflect on the political goal of unity presented by his Azimio la Umoja coalition movement,” said Chatham on its website.
The opposition supremo will also give a political and governance talk at Chatham House, a global think-tank popularly known for hosting leaders to give talks on topical issues relevant to their countries.
Also expected to join them later on in the week is Central Organization of Trade Union COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli.
