Tuesday, July 20, 2021 -Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party is now facing out old guards in favour of young blood. Party leader Raila Odinga has announced
Odinga who was speaking during his Monday July 20 tour of Kwale County noted that young blood will be the future of the party and therefore need to come on board and vie for seats.
He urged every young man and woman to come on board and register as members ahead of 2022 contest to increase their chances of taking leadership in various seats.
The opposition supremo, for the first time, admitted that his party has been full of older persons who now need to be available only for guidance of the younger fresh blood. He said he is going to campaign for any younger politician in the party going forward.
Odinga encouraged those who want to join politics to choose his party which is currently facing a strong rivalry from Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance UDA Party.
“We have old members of our party. What we are doing is allowing an opportunity for the younger people to also join the party so that they can meaningfully participate in the planning and management of the party as we head into the polls.
“This registration is a process of inclusion to bring new blood into the party so that they can join and work together with the older members to make the party stronger,” he announced.
He was saying this just days after Kiss 100 FM presenter-cum-comedian Felix Odiwuor aka Jalang’o officially joined the ODM Party. Jalang’o was handed a life membership certificate by Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.
“Comedian and radio presenter Felix Odhiambo Odiwuor aka Jalang’o today officially joined the biggest political movement in the country. He was handed the Life Membership certificate by SG @edwinsifuna. We keep marching on #TukoTayari,” ODM tweeted.
On his recent Tv interview, Jalang’o made it clear that he was going for nothing less than the Lang’ata Parliamentary seat. He has already asked residents to prepare for his leadership.
