Monday, October 30, 2023 –Orange Democratic Alliance ODM Party has criticized International Monetary Fund and the World Bank for their failure to help the country stabilize economically.
Through a statement shared on Monday October 30, the Raila Odinga-led party argued that both the IMF and World Bank cannot help improve the current economic crisis biting the country.
This being the ODM Party response to Kenya Kwanza leaders who had proposed that the IMF and the World Bank experts will be invited in the country to help in the ongoing National Dialogue at Bomas to resolve the contentious matter of the cost of living in the country.
“We express profound concern regarding the participation of institutions such as the World Bank and IMF for expert input,” read part of the statement.
The two world financial institutions had been proposed by a section of the Kenya Kwanza leaders in the bipartisan talks to help deliberate the cost-of-living agenda.
But ODM Party leadership has remained firm that the two agencies are to blame for the current problems facing Kenya and, therefore, cannot now purport to be having a solution.
In talks scheduled for Tuesday, the opposition wants to address the high cost of living before agreeing on other agenda and later signing the document as official.
