Friday, July 7, 2023 –Opposition leader Raila Odinga entered the condoned CBD Nairobi using a boda boda motorcycle.
Citizen Tv reported that, as the police engaged the protesters in running battles along the busy Kenyatta Avenue, Raila jumped from his armored vehicle and took a boda boda only to resurface at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation where he addressed the media.
This is after his convoy made its way through the CBD despite a strong resistance from the police and anti-riot squads.
“We have gotten into the CBD. This is a very big achievement. We did not provoke anybody and this was a very peaceful procession. Unfortunately, they wanted us to fight them.
“They were throwing teargas and shooting at us for no reason at all,” Raila said adding that the police erected unnecessary roadblocks along his way in an attempt to separate him from his supporters.
Earlier today Friday July 7, Police water canons were seen spraying Azimio convoy and supporters with pressure water along Kenyatta Avenue, Nairobi.
At the time, Raila was accompanied by former Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria and scores of other leaders.
