Monday, March 13, 2023 –Opposition chief Raila Odinga has come out to warn the government against attempting to block his March 20 mass action.
Raila, who was addressing the matter in Likoni area during his Coastal rally revealed that the Ministry of Interior headed by Prof Kithure Kindiki wants to interfere with his democratic mass action to start on March 20.
Mr. Odinga told his supporters to come out in droves on that day despite threats by the government to disrupt the exercise.
“Mr. Kindiki you will know who I am, the CS is threatening me. I don’t fear you,” Raila stated.
He went ahead to assure that the planned protests will go on as planned unless President Ruto heeds his raft of demands among them selection of IEBC commissioners as well as lowering the cost of living for citizens.
The Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party leader assured his supporters that he would continue protesting until Ruto listens.
“We gave an ultimatum to the government and told them that they reduce the cost of living and they did not heed.
“Instead, they increased taxation without lowering the price of basic commodities,” the party leader remarked.
Raila was supported by his former running mate Martha Karua who warned CS Kindiki against deploying the police to disrupt the planned mass action.
She added that what they want is a peaceful walk and the police should only be there for security reasons and not confrontations.
Recently, Prof Kithure warned politicians that they will be dealt with accordingly as per the Constitution if they attempt to break the law.
