Saturday, January 21, 2023 –Western nations have started pushing for a Ruto-Raila handshake which may take place very soon.
Speaking on the matter on Saturday January 21 morning, Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has said that Western powers are initiating a discussion between the two main leaders in the country.
The Western countries are convincing Raila’s side of Azimio la Umoja to sit down with the government side so that to slow down politics through talks.
Recounting the events of 2013 and 2017, the former Ndaragwa MP Kioni said US and UK have been on the forefront of reconciling political parties after every election cycle.
“After every election, you will see the Western nations through the embassies trying to talk to all parties that took part in the election, it happened when I was with Musalia and it has now happened, all those embassies will always be asking parties to work together,” Kioni stated while speaking to KTN News.
This topic is emerging just days after Hon Raila Odinga had a daylong meeting with a delegation of United Kingdom UK.
Raila took photos with UK’s High Commissioner in Kenya, Jane Marriot, saying he was happy to have met the UK official.
“This afternoon, we were hosted by @JaneMarriottUK, the @UKinKenya’s High Commissioner. We discussed the situation in the country, potential areas of collaboration, and agreed to consult on a regular basis to discuss matters of national and mutual interest,” Raila stated on Jan 11.
On her part, Ms Marriot noted that the discussion centered around the importance of an effective opposition and development programmes in the country through peaceful coexistence.
