Thursday, January 21, 2021 -Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party is now keen to changing the way they have been relating with the Uhuru Kenyatta government.
Oflate, ODM brigade has come out boldly to speak their mind without batting an eyelid, a clear indicator that they are nolonger ready to continue sitting down as ‘Good Boys’ waiting to be handed a free victory.
Basically, informed by increasingly descending voices from the Mt. Kenya Region where Mr. Kenyatta seems to be getting enough rebellion towards his end of second term, Mr. Odinga has decided to make things happen by himself. He is back to his usual busy political schedule at Upper Hill and on the ground so that to regain his dwindling popularity which seems to be shifting very fast towards his ‘dangerous’ rival Dr. William Ruto.
Waiting for Uhuru who is now much relaxed to do serious politics could be costly for someone who still wants power and this Mr. Odinga has realized. In fact, for lack of a better word, Uhuru is becoming so powerless and party-less by day if what has happened to his own party is anything to judge him by.
Pundits would ask – a person with a home and another who has none who should accommodate the other. The answer is obvious. So Raila Odinga should be the one to remain in his ever strong home ODM and Uhuru can only come in and support if at all he is genuine with his partnership with Odinga.
It will be a tall order for Jubilee which is already in confusion to demand that Raila should dissolve his ODM Party for a new home through an agreement. Conmanship. To expect such a thing to happen with Raila is equal to dreaming during the day since this would be the most blind move that any rightfully thinking person can make in this era where political betrayal is the new normal.
I would therefore urge Mr. Odinga to work hard for his 2022 ambitions and see if Uhuru will remain genuine to come in and support him. This however, should not matter for ODM because so many reliable political figures from Mt. Kenya are already giving up with Mr. Kenyatta including Governor Anne Waiguru, former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, juniors like Irungu Kang’ata among others. At such a rate, Mt. Kenya is again proving that it can never be relied on by anyone from another community. The message is loud and clear.
