Wednesday, July 20, 2022 –A chopper ferrying Azimio la Umoja team developed a tire problem landing in a ditch, in Turkana today.
A source from the scene told Homenews.co.ke that the plane had a tire burst forcing it to veer off the runway at the Kakuma Airstrip.
Azimio leader Raila Odinga would shortly emerge with an official position on the matter saying he is safe and was not part of the occupants of the plane.
He also clarified that those who were on board escaped unhurt and resumed their day’s program immediately.
“We thank God the Almighty that nobody was injured in an aircraft that was carrying members of our team that had a mishap at the Kakuma Airstrip. I wasn’t onboard the said aircraft myself. Let us continue praying for the safety of all leaders as we continue with the campaigns,” he updated the country.
Mr. Odinga and his Azimio la Umoja brigade pitched camp in Turkana County where they asked their supporters to make sure they turn up in large numbers to hand him (Odinga) an early win on August 9.
This was happening as rival Kenya Kwanza camp led by William Ruto toured parts of Ukambani where they took issue with the Handshake partners for having used the maize flour crisis to sell Odinga to unsuspecting poor Kenyans following a recent reduction in the price of the commodity from sh 200 to now sh 100.
