Wednesday, July 19, 2023 –Azimio la Umoja boss Raila Odinga has announced to their supporters across the country to show up tomorrow Thursday July 20 for second day of demonstrations.
Citing the first day as a big success, Mr. Odinga noted that it was saddening to see the police target innocent lives of children during their Azimio peaceful protests.
“This illegitimate regime is targeting innocent children; using live bullets. Totally unwarranted, unjustifiable and uncalled for. This happened in Mashimoni-Kibra today.
“Master Lovick Anyodi Ndaregwa is currently admitted for medical treatment at Mbagathi District Hospital. We are following up on his treatment,” Odinga added.
The ex-Prime Minister seized the opportunity after his daylong silence to urge supporters to go home at exactly 5PM in accordance with the laws of the country.
“The directive is in line with the Constitution which stipulates those protests should end at 5 pm,” Etale, Orange Democratic Movement’s Communication Director, confirmed.
On whether he was willing to start a dialogue with government, Raila remained silent on the matter saying it was not yet part of his plans as of now.
Today, clergies from the Catholic Church prevailed upon the two leaders – Ruto and Raila – to consider dialogue to save the country from beckoning collapse.
Odinga also wants some of his allies arrested today Wednesday to be released as soon as possible terming their arrest as unconstitutional.
Among those arrested are Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, youth activist Calvin Okoth aka Gaucho among others from different parts of the country.
