Monday, July 10, 2023 – Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga has today explained why he is collecting over 10 million signatures from around the country.
Addressing supporters along Wabera Street today Monday July 10 after walking to the CBD accompanied by former Kakamega County Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Mr. Odinga atop his car, mentioned that the reason he is collecting the signatures was to show his might against the ruling government.
He claimed that, with the 10 million strong support on paper, it will be easier for the whole world to understand why he is back on the streets to agitate for the plight of the many poor families in the country.
“I want us to have at least 15 million signatures so to have a vote of no confidence on this leadership.
“With the signatures, it will be easier for me to show the world that I have enough support on my quest to liberate this country from poor governance,” he addressed.
His remarks were supported by Mr. Oparanya who said it will be much easier for them to talk about this government if they get the backing of 10 million signs from supporters.
“On Wednesday please come out in numbers for our peaceful protests against this type of governance,” Oparanya urged supporters.
There remarks comes barely a day after fellow Azimio co-principal Martha Karua explained on Spice FM that the reason they are collecting signatures was not to remove anybody from office but to de-legitimize Ruto’s rule.
This was in contrast to Eugene Wamalwa’s earlier claims that the signatures will help in the Ruto-Gachagua impeachment.
